- Are you an experienced professional looking for new opportunities to further your career The SC Governors School for the Arts and Humanities is seeking a hardworking and dependablecandidate just like you to apply!The Film Instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts and Humanities to identify and teach South Carolinas artistically talented high school students through programs or pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence.Responsibilities of the Film Instructor:
- Serves as a resource for all teachers and students in South Carolina to advance the schools Outreach mission.
- In consultation with the Department Chair and Dean teaches and contributes to ongoing design of a sequential film curriculum that aligns with industry standards.
- Fosters creativity and technical proficiency among students in accordance with state and national standards utilizing the South Carolina College and Career-Ready Standards for Visual and Performing Arts Proficiency and the schools curriculum as adopted by the Board of Directors.
- Represents SCGSAH and the department through active involvement in professional activities and organizations.
- Strengthens personal pursuits and professional ties by participating exhibiting performing and/or making presentations for public groups districts and schools parent groups etc.
- Participates in faculty and department meetings committees programs and other events that promote excellence and growth in the department and school.
- Participates in audition/admissions review process as requested by the Department Chair or Dean.
- Demonstrates interest and engagement in student performances and other school-wide activities.
- Assists with any other duties that may be assigned by the Department Chair or Administration.

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Film Studies or a related field is required along with a minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Additional Requirements: (Along with the state application applicants are asked to submit)- A detailed resume highlighting their education relevant work experience and professional accomplishments.
- A letter of interest outlining their commitment to the subject area teaching philosophy and how their qualifications align with the responsibilities of the position.
- A portfolio showcasing their filmmaking work (including links to films if available).
Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview. A copy of the transcript may also be uploaded as an attachment to the application if required by the hiring department or if desired by the applicant. Please note that some areas of the Agency may require an official certified copy of the transcript prior to hiring or within a specific timeframe required by that area after hiring. Failure to produce an official certified transcript may result in not being hired or termination.
Preferred Qualifications
A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Film Studies or a related field is preferred along with five (5) years of successful experience teaching film/filmmaking at the secondary or post-secondary level. Additional Comments
