Job Description

Join GFL Environmental as an EHS Technician/Administrator where your commitment to safety and environmental health will play a critical role in maintaining a safe compliant and proactive workplace. In this position youll work closely with both operational and corporate teams to promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.



Key Responsibilities:

Operations Support

  • Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate and reinforce safe work practices.

  • Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.

  • Assist with external audit preparations and support ongoing compliance initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of safety excellence throughout all levels of the organization.

  • Support incident investigations identify root causes and recommend corrective actions in collaboration with the Regional EHS team.

  • Review classify and report on injuries property damage and environmental incidents.

  • Participate in safety training and orientation for new employees.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations standards and company policies.

  • Ensure proper recordkeeping and compliance documentation is maintained at each branch.

  • Assist in the development of monthly and annual safety topics and training themes.

Injury Management & Return to Work

  • Provide immediate guidance and support to supervisors following workplace incidents.

  • Ensure timely completion and submission of required documentation.

  • Collaborate with Corporate Disability Management and Workers Compensation Boards to support return-to-work programs.

  • Manage communication and support for injured employees during modified duties.

General

  • Support the EHS team in enforcing applicable laws regulations and internal policies.

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Willingness and ability to travel across the assigned region.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.

  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.

  • Solid understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices.
