The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Qubec - Sant (FRQS).
Position summary
The incumbent will support the coordination of projects within a multi-institutional research network based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) focused on rare and undiagnosed diseases in the province of Quebec.
The goal of is to improve clinical care of patients and families affected by rare and undiagnosed diseases by advancing research. This goal will be achieved through three major objectives namely by building a research pillar focused on creating a database of clinical and biological materials of rare and undiagnosed diseases in
the province by building a pathophysiology pillar focused on fundamental and translational research on rare and undiagnosed diseases and through a patient-centered pillar focused on natural and interventional studies.
Under the supervision of the Manager and the guidance of the Executive Director of the Research Pillar Coordinator will support the scientific and administrative development and execution of the pillars objectives. The Coordinator will work closely with pillar leaders to implement initiatives and will contribute to the overall coordination and advancement of pillar activities by facilitating related tasks and projects.
General Duties
Support the pillar leaders in the development implementation and reporting of research pillar activities
Liaise and coordinate the different teams involved in the pillar objectives
Set and ensure deadlines are met for large groups
Plan and organize scientific events for researchers clinicians and students and ensure the preparation of summaries and follow-ups
Contribute to the development and writing of the research pillars development plan
Serve as a resource person at for strategic or operational questions related to research and projects
Provide the Manager with follow-up reports on project finances metrics and performance indicators
Assist the Manager in the preparation of reports on the Networks activities to the funding and regulatory agencies
Accomplish any other related tasks as required by the Manager.
Training and experience in science particularly in the management of research projects
Demonstrate an interest in scientific research and in fostering collaboration between researchers/ clinicians/students.
Interest in rare disease research is considered an asset
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision
Problem assessment and solving abilities
Experience working in academic and/or public institutions is considered an asset
Proficiency working in a virtual setting
Ability to work flexibly and take on a variety of tasks as a member of a small team
Excellent French and English spoken and written.
Status: Temporary full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $45299.80 $67958.80 Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Work Site: Remote
