JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Housing Coordinator Recovery Residence (25 hours/week)

Employment Classification: Part-time Non-Exempt (Shift: Wed-Sun 4:00pm-9:00pm)

Reports to: Young Adult Court Supervisor

Department: Young Adult Court


Program Summary: The Young Adult Court Program (YAC) works in collaboration with University of California-Irvine Orangewood Foundation Probation the District Attorneys Office Defense Attorneys Office and The Orange County Superior Court. The YAC program provides engagement assessment clinical case management and resource coordination support to Transitional Age Young Men (ages 18-25) as part of a collaborative research study to reduce recidivism.


Position Summary: The Housing Coordinator provides oversight and support for up to six residents living in a recovery-focused transitional housing program. The Housing Coordinator maintains a safe structured and trauma-informed environment; assists residents with daily routines and life-skills practice; addresses conflicts or crises using de-escalation techniques; and ensures house guidelines are consistently upheld. The role bridges day and overnight operations by documenting key events monitoring household conditions and communicating resident needs to the wider care team thereby promoting stability and progress in each residents recovery journey.

Requirements

Major Areas of Responsibility:

Maintain a safe structured and recovery-focused environment.

Monitor communal areas and ensure the home is clean organized and conducive to recovery and stability.

Provide trauma-informed strengths-based support to residents as they transition into evening routines.

Build positive trust-based relationships with residents offering guidance and support as needed.

Assist residents with evening routines including meal preparation hygiene routines and household responsibilities.

Facilitate or support group activities such as house meetings shared meals or life skills coaching.

Address interpersonal conflicts or emerging issues in a calm supportive and consistent manner.

Use de-escalation techniques when needed and report incidents to the Program Supervisor in a timely manner.

Communicate regularly with Care Coordinator Therapist overnight staff and the Program Supervisor to ensure continuity of care.

Participate in shift handoffs providing clear updates on resident needs incidents or concerns.

Ensure residents complete assigned chores and maintain shared living spaces.

Monitor inventory of basic supplies and notify the appropriate staff of restocking needs.

Complete daily log entries and incident reports to accurately reflect evening events resident interactions and household conditions.

Enforce house rules and program guidelines with consistency compassion and accountability.

Uphold all Orangewood Foundation policies confidentiality standards and ethical practices.


Education & Experience Requirements:

Education:

High school diploma or GED required.

Associates or Bachelors degree in social work psychology human services or a related field preferred.


Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth preferably transition-age youth (TAY) in a residential recovery behavioral health or supportive housing setting.

Lived experience is a plus.


Knowledge & Skills

Experience working sensitively with individuals impacted by trauma using trauma-informed care harm reduction and motivational interviewing techniques.

Strong communication documentation and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to supporting young adults in their recovery and personal development.

Ability to remain calm and make sound and timely decisions under pressure particularly when managing youth crises.

Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate ethical decision-making in all aspects of the role.

Ability to think critically and strategically identifying opportunities and challenges and developing solutions to support youth success.

Environment/Physical Requirements:

Position will require use of personal vehicle.

Physical requirements include standing sitting typing bending and lifting up to approximately 25 lbs. (i.e. tables chairs food water etc.).

Possess a valid California drivers license and proof of automobile insurance.

Position requires DMV clearance.

Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check FBI/DOJ fingerprinting TB test drug screen and previous employment verification.
