Job Title: Packaging Coordinator
Department: Production Control
Reports To: Production Control Assistant Manager

Vacancy: 1st shift from 6:30a- 3:15pm at Applewhite facility
Job Summary:
The Packaging Coordinator is responsible for supporting the packing process by accurately and timely managing inventory levels of the different packaging (sequencing racks totes bins cardboard packaging supplies etc.) required in the daily shipping operations. This position is also responsible for coordinating the movement/transfer of packaging between company facilities customers and suppliers and ensuring packaging is in good operational condition and meets safety product integrity and efficiency requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
Ensure daily availability of the different types of packaging items (sequencing racks totes bins cardboard packaging supplies etc.) required in the daily shipping operations.
Uses customer packaging control system (Surgerys) to update inventories of customer packaging daily to support the plant operation by providing information of containers availability.
Uses customer system (VPACKS) to update and keep track of packaging repair proposals or the submission of new packaging.
Submits and maintains record of repair or modification costs invoices submitted for reimbursement approval by the customer and notifies finance when approval has been received for proper record of the money.
Informs Production Control Assistant Manager of sequencing racks totes and bins that are missing in our location (out of loop) for him to address the issue with Toyota packaging.
Coordinate movement of packaging items between company facilities customers and suppliers to ensure timely availability for our company shipping operations.
Keep accurate min/max inventory levels of all packaging items/devices and locations to prevent shortages and/or over purchasing and responsible of issuing the corresponding PO.
Identify and propose process improvement and cost saving initiatives related to packaging labor efficiency transportation and storage.
Coordinates supplier visits to the plant to review packaging proposals or opportunities to establish commercial relation.
Review and verify supplier invoices in the finance DocuSign software to ensure accuracy proper documentation and alignment with goods and services received. Confirm the details for timely and accurate payment.
Oversee and manage the follow-up process for EPNS (Electronic Procurement Notification System) orders ensuring timely updates tracking progress and resolving any issues.
Manage and coordinate customer requests for modifications or new packaging as well as plant proposals (e.g. packaging changes QPC changes). Oversee the process from initial request through trials prototype submission implementation.
Disposition of damaged racks or totes making sure they are discontinued from their loops and the owner party is notified.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education:
High School diploma or GED.
Experience:
1-2 years experience in fast paced manufacturing warehousing or shipping environments managing customer packaging (racks totes expendable packaging etc.) preferably in the automotive industry.

Computer Skills:
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office including Word Excel PowerPoint Teams and in the use of e-mail and web browser applications.
Mathematical Abilities:
Intermediate math skills.
Analytical or Reasoning Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills with orientation for continuous improvement.
Ability to understand and follow written technical procedures/instructions.
Communication Skills: (Writing Foreign Language Reasoning)
Ability to read write and speak English.
Highly effective articulate communication skills (verbal & written) with strong interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to work with all levels in the organization and across cultures.
Bilingual English-Spanish preferred

Physical Requirements:
About 50% of the time will be spent doing desk related work on a computer and working with basic office equipment (PC fax and printer phones) while the remaining 50% will be spent on the plant floor completing work related to the position.
Must be able to lift twenty-five pounds individually and team lift 50 pounds.
Must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures without endangering the health or safety of self or others. Must wear all personal protective equipment where required.
