Description

Overview:

The Helpdesk Intern will gain hands-on experience in IT support by assisting the helpdesk team with troubleshooting technical issues supporting end-users and maintaining IT systems. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a career in IT to develop problem-solving skills gain exposure to enterprise technology environments and contribute to a fast-paced support team. They will gain hands-on experience in IT support troubleshooting and customer service while working in a professional environment. This internship provides a well-rounded introduction to IT support preparing interns for future roles in technology and customer-facing support positions. Key learning opportunities include:

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Develop problem-solving skills by diagnosing and resolving hardware software and network issues.
  • IT Systems & Tools: Gain exposure to enterprise IT environments including ticketing systems remote support tools and system administration tasks.
  • Customer Service & Communication: Learn how to effectively assist users translate technical issues into user-friendly solutions and document resolutions.
  • Hardware & Software Management: Get hands-on experience with setting up and maintaining workstations peripherals and software applications.
  • Team Collaboration & Workflow: Understand how IT teams coordinate prioritize tasks and contribute to broader organizational goals.
  • Professional Development: Enhance critical thinking adaptability and project management skills while working alongside experienced IT professionals.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line technical support for hardware software and network issues.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving IT requests via ticketing system email and in-person support.
  • Set up and configure workstations peripherals and user accounts.
  • Document technical issues and solutions in the knowledge base.
  • Support IT projects such as system upgrades inventory management and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with team members to enhance the helpdesk experience for end-users.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university preferably in IT Computer Science or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
