Position: Finance Director

Salary Range: $130000 - $135000 commensurate with experience
Overview:
The Finance Director for the Oxford Board of Education will manage the financial operations of the school district including budget development accounting payroll and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role is crucial for responsible financial management to support the districts educational goals and overall success. This is a twelve (12) month position and reports directly to the Superintendent.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in financial management or school administration preferably with governmental accounting experience.
- Skills: Strong financial analysis budgeting accounting and reporting skills.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations particularly in the area of education finance.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and supervise staff effectively.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with various stakeholders.
- Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address financial challenges and make sound decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budgeting: The position will be charged with preparing and managing the annual school district budget process including forecasting cost control and ensuring adherence to budget parameters.
- Accounting/Accounts Payable:The position oversees all accounting functions including accurate record-keeping financial reporting and preparing financial statements. Furthermore the position approves all expenditures via the Tyler ERP Pro accounting system
- Payroll: The position is charged with full oversight of the Payroll Coordinator and payroll processing ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and compliance.
- Grants: Managing and monitoring state and federal grants including grant reporting and compliance.
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Preparing and submitting financial reports to state and federal agencies.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies.
- Risk Management: Works directly with the Town of Oxfords Director of Finance to develop and administer the districts comprehensive insurance programs.
- Staff Supervision:Supervising the business office staff who consist of the following:
- 1 Accounting/AP Coordinator 1 Payroll Coordinator 1 Benefits Coordinator and providing leadership and guidance.
- Strategic Planning: Assisting the Superintendent in developing strategic financial plans and policies.
- Negotiations: Represents the Board of Education in contract negotiations and problem resolution with staff.
- Internal Controls: Establishing and maintaining effective internal accounting controls.
- Communication: The Director is charged with providing clear and accurate financial information to the Board of Education administration and other stakeholders.
