Job Description

What is CASA

The City Arts and Sciences Academy (CASA) is a newly imagined grade 6-12 school for Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math (STEAM). CASA opens in September 2025 with 200 students in grades 6 and 9 and will over three years to a full grade 6-12 school. CASA will integrate advanced curricula interdisciplinary project-based learning and real-world applications to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds.

CASA utilizes the unique opportunities within the Lynn community to build innovative responsive and meaningful project-based learning experiences for all students. Our commitment to a dynamic schedule allows students to learn in authentic collaborative and inter/transdisciplinary ways. Because teacher collaboration and inspiration is foundational to our curriculum we ensure common planning time and ongoing professional development for our faculty. A CASA faculty member:

  • Creates and researches project-based learning experiences that are engaging educational and exciting for students.
  • CASA faculty welcomes the flexibility of being part of an emergent team and is willing to respond to the changing needs of a creative innovative learning and teaching environment.
  • CASA faculty are enthusiastic about developing a project-based classroom; modifying and expanding existing curriculum to respond to the needs of the students at any given time.
  • Plans prepares and delivers instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
  • Incorporates goals competencies and objectives into lesson plans in ways that directly apply to the students lived experience and to the Lynn community.

Daily Schedule(s):

8:45-3:45 M/T/R/F; 7:45-2:45 Wednesdays

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate participate in and lead the creation of an integrated interdisciplinary arts-infused project-based curriculum including developing and assessing exhibitions.
  • Along with other faculty participate in strategic planning and department management. Areas include but are not limited to assessment piloting and creating new curricula piloting and creating cross-discipline short and long-term projects implementing technology student case management and exhibition/competition/partnership participation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers about student progress.
  • Accept flexible assignments such as team and interdisciplinary teaching working with different age groups and ability levels etc.
  • Work with university college and community collaborators.
  • Perform general administrative tasks associated with teaching learning and data cycles.
  • Align the teaching and learning cycles to connect to school-wide student learning expectations and school-wide learning experiences. Participate in a paid forty-hour summer institute.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Details:

Ability to teach and/or support various styles of dance.

Ability to teach and/or support students with varying dance experiences and skill levels.

Foster access for CASA students to district / all-city groups and ensembles.

Ability to teach general introductory or survey dance courses as electives with the goal to develop interests in students who may not have otherwise had exposure to dance and its various styles.

Qualifications:

  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s).
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement as applicable.
  • Experience in urban schools preferred.
  • Experience in or with digital music production and/or commercial music production.
  • Enthusiasm for and/or experience with project-based learning multidisciplinary curriculum STEAM pedagogy and the willingness to develop professionally in these areas. A desire to increase skills and ability to deliver strong innovative project-based learning across many disciplines.
  • Commitment to the arts as an important element in a complete education.
  • Commitment to cultural ethnic and linguistic diversity as an element in a complete education.
  • Commitment to and demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction in the classroom.
  • Enthusiasm and eagerness to work at a new school be a founding team member and build school culture.
  • Ability to take on responsibilities and prioritize quickly.
  • Ability to work in an innovative collaborative diverse school.
  • Excellent communication skills and critical thinking skills.
  • A desire to lead an Advisory and to develop professional skills in SEL Human Development and Social Justice.
