A Day in the Life of a Multimodal Transportation Engineer

You are at the forefront of brainstorming creative solutions for challenging projects. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver multimodal transportation infrastructure in a wide range of contexts from complex roadway reconstructions and vibrant urban streetscapes to iconic trail projects that celebrate and preserve the natural character of suburban and rural landscapes. You use state of the art tools and practices to help create sustainable people centered multimodal transportation infrastructure.

You are part of a team helping shape projects that make places more connected vibrant and fun to move through.

We are targeting a salary range of $71000 to $75000 for this position.

Work Schedule for a Multimodal Transportation Engineer

This full-time position typically works a flexible schedule of 40 hours a week. We also provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home up to 2 days per week. Our Boston office is conveniently located in Bostons Downtown Crossing directly adjacent to the iconic Boston Common within a short walk to all of the major rapid transit lines and close to both North Station and South Station commuter rail lines. The office is easily accessed on foot by bicycle and via transit (Downtown Crossing Park Station South Station SL4 SL5 and several buses including routes 437 11).

Qualifications of a Multimodal Transportation Engineer:

• Bachelors or masters degree in transportation or civil engineering or a related field
• Fundamentals of Engineering Certification (EIT) or a plan to obtain such certification within two years
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn Computer Automated Design (AutoCAD)
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications
• Knowledge of roadway geometric design or transportation analysis techniques
• A strong interest in multimodal and active transportation design is preferred

It would be a plus if you have any of the following:

• Familiarity with design software (Civil 3D GEOPAK or InRoads)
• Proficiency using traffic analysis software (Synchro SIDRA)
• Prior experience at a consulting firm public entity non-profit or higher learning institution
• Experience conducting public outreach and engagement
