Job Description

Program Assistant s Play & Learn

Location s : Crestwood STEM School Dr. Ken Sauer Fine Arts School George Davison School

Vincent Massey School and TBD

Medicine Hat Public School Division is taking applications for Program Assistants for our Licensed Play & Learn programs. This is a 3 hour position and may be combined with a 3 hour EA position for current employees. This is a ten-month position that includes competitive compensation and employee benefits.

The primary purpose of the Program Assistants will be to support the Primary Early Childhood Educators (ECE) with implementing programming in the Play & Learn programs for kindergarten aged children. You will be responsible to deliver programming to support the development of early literacy early numeracy motor skills and social emotional growth of children participating in Play & Learn during the 2025-2026 school year. Successful candidates will remain in the position ongoing if enrollment supports. This position beings on August 28 2025.

Qualifications

  • Level 1 Level 2 or Level 3 Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification
  • Intermediate First Aid/CPR
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector check less than three months old will be required prior to employment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • The ability to follow through with a program plan that supports learning through play with Flight: Albertas Early Learning and Care Framework as a guiding document.
  • Demonstrated a commitment to work collaboratively with a Primary ECE to support student success and as a member of the broader school community.
  • Demonstrated the ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to carry out effective programming for children.
  • Interpersonal skills that result in building positive relationships through effective communication.
  • An understanding of child development and experience working with children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to understand and follow ISPs and behavior support plans.
  • Experience with and understanding of the Alberta Early Learning and Childcare Act and Regulations.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • SIVA Training
