This individual is accountable for the teaching and supervision of students in the Medical Assisting program based on the Chapter 74 Massachusetts state frameworks.
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the standards-based instruction of students in Medical Assisting
- Responsible for the integration of the departments curriculum where appropriate and for the alignment of the CVTE state frameworks to the course.
- Performance of other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
- Associate degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.
- Four years of full-time employment experience directly related to medical assisting.
- Required Massachusetts teaching certification/licensure in Medical Assisting Chapter 74 (or willingness to work towards).
- Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
- Current authorization to work in the United States
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced educational preparation.
- Curriculum development experience and knowledge of technical competencies with curriculum frameworks.
- Proficiency with technology (blended learning teacher/family communication suites (Remind preferred) Google G-Suite Apps etc.) desirable.
- Second language (Spanish and/or Portuguese) proficiency a plus
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience supporting English language Learners.
Work Year: Teachers in Salem Public Schools work a 185 day school year (180 student contact days plus 5 professional development days. Please click here to view the 2025-26 district and/or school calendars.
Salary: Teacher salaries in the Salem Public Schools are determined by the Salem Teachers Union collective bargaining agreement (see new 2024-27 language with updated salary information here).
