Job Duties
The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking a highly qualified individual for the Reimbursement Technician II position located at Catawba Hospital in Catawba VA. The incumbent under minimal supervision ensures maximum revenue collections are received for billing of acute inpatient psychiatric services for Medicare Medicare Advantage plans Medicaid commercial insurance and billing of Temporary Detention Orders (TDO). Primary duties include all aspects of third-party billing associated with acute psychiatric hospitalizations to include preparation of claims as well as billing and follow up of claims until payment is received. The incumbent will create claims in both paper and electronic formats and track resolve claim rejections denials and under/over payments through appeals and resubmissions.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable medical billing experience. Knowledge of insurance guidelines including Medicare Medicaid and commercial payers. Strong understanding of UB-04 billing format and billing requirements. Experience handling authorizations claim denials and appeals. Strong understanding of compliance with HIPAA federal/state billing guidelines and payer-specific policies.
Additional Considerations
Inpatient psychiatric facility billing experience.
