Function:The Computer Science/ Information Technology Specialist will provide secondary students opportunities to explore the field of information technology and game design; to motivate secondary students to build a foundation of the skills attitudes and knowledge relevant to Computer Science/Information Technology & Game Design through experiential learning using Project Lead The Way as a base curriculum and to encourage secondary students to develop a career portfolio that reflects the work readiness skills and personal characteristics conducive for success in college and career pathways.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:Instructs secondary students in high-level computer languages and programming including game students in the use of PD hardware repair and networking students in the use of software specific to Project Lead The Way and UROs CS4RIs remain current through ongoing professional development (required PLTW) and URIs CS4RI curriculum as well independent study in the area of emerging technologies such as Mobile App development. Prepares and updates curriculum and provides students with a syllabus at the beginning of the school year. Develops maintains and updates articulation agreements and dual enrollment courses with post-secondary Advisory Board members and maintains an active Advisory with businesses and post-secondary institutions to plan and implement site and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly productive and safe learning students in the importance and significance of accuracy safety job-related responsibilities resourcefulness and good work habits in obtaining and retaining and evaluates each students performance knowledge and skills; record grades and enter them on the Portal system prepare progress reports and provide employment and college references for students as with employers parents and school counselors on student selects and requisitions books instructional materials equipment and supplies and maintains required inventory individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and the requirements of the activities being professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school department and/or self- selected professional development other general related tasks as may be assigned by the Director/Principal.Required Qualifications:Associates degree in a related areaA minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of information technology and/or game designDemonstrated knowledge and experience in programming in high-level computer languages PC Hardware repair and networking hold the RI Teaching CTE Certificate or the willing to obtain the certificationAbility to relate to students parents and other staff
