Job Description: Indian Education Coordinator
Definition: Responsible for developing coordinating and implementing a Title VI Program for Clinton Public Schools.
Qualifications: Applicants must possess understanding of Indian Education American Indian/Alaska Native students and families and an Associate degree or experience serving American Indian/Alaska Native students.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and ability to use appropriate cultural ideas in serving our Indigenous students and families.
- Knowledge skills and ability to generate and maintain a good working relationship with personnel associated with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes and Department of Education.
- Ability to coordinate with various Tribal programs to effectively generate growth in academic achievement of our Indigenous students.
- Ability to coordinate with the Clinton Public Schools faculty in scheduling appropriate times to assist qualifying students with academic and social needs from PreK through 12th grade.
- Skill and ability to communicate effectively with Clinton Public Schools faculty Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribe Indigenous students and families through various media including but not limited to telephone email social media visitation and written correspondence.
- Ability to create a documented time schedule and follow it promptly.
- Ability to gather and assess data from various sources and document progress.
- Ability and skill in organizing materials and assisting with program analysis and documentation.
- Knowledge skill and ability to work with Indigenous students with academic social and family needs from PreK through 12th grade.
Examples of Job Duties
- Scheduling time to meet with individual students with academic needs at various schools from PreK through 12th grade.
- Coordinating with various Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal programs to provide cultural prevention and college and career services for Clinton Public Schools.
- Working with Clinton Public Schools faculty and Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Education to provide opportunities for our students to be college and career ready.
- Weekly assessment of qualifying student grades using InfiniteCampus.
- Documentation of students assisted.
- Emailing teachers concerning student needs.
- Coordinating with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Department of Education to create new educational opportunities that are culturally competent and effective.
- Planning and conducting family meetings and student activities.
- Planning and implementing Clinton Public Schools Title VI Program.
- Serving as the districts representative on the Indian Education Parent Committee scheduling the quarterly meetings developing the agenda and submitting minutes.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
