POSITIONSUMMARY: Thepurpose of this position is to coordinate organize and implement all of theyouth Religious Ed programs for the parish.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Maintainsthe catechetical programs meeting the needs of youth of the parish
oKindergartenthrough 11th grade classes
oSacramentalStudies Eucharist Penance and Confirmation
oVacation Bible School
Recruitstrains supervises and evaluates catechists for all youth religious
Maintainsrelationship with the Diocesan Department of Religious Education and thecatechetical staff of the parish regarding areas of responsibility
Makesadjustments to program components space time materials etc. as needed
Requestsand organizes resources for each of the religious ed programs
Negotiatesfor space and other physical environment requirements.
Coordinatesprayer experiences for program participants
Communicateswith participants parents and the community regarding the youth R.E. programs
Maintainsdatabase and files on all participants of the program
OTHEROR SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:
Handlesall Safe Environment training as it relates to the CCD program
Workswith Pastor and Finance Council to create and maintain budget for the program
THISPOSITION SUPERVISES:
This position supervisesall volunteers for youth religious education programs.
QUALIFICATIONSTO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY:
Educationand/or Experience:
HighSchool diploma with some college degree preferred
Certificationin Catechetics
Teachingexperience preferred
Leadershipskills
Experiencein Parish Ministry
LanguageSkills:
Excellentcommunication skills both verbally and written
Fluentin English Secondary skills in French and Spanish are a plus
Computationalskills:
Mustbe able to develop and track budgets for the programs of supervisor
ReasoningAbility:
Musthave good listening skills and be able to distinguish situations objectively inorder to bring about resolution
TechnicalSkills:
Mustbe able to use a computer and software Microsoft word excel access andpublisher
Mustbe able to train in new programs as need arises
CertificatesLicenses Registrations:
MasterCatechist or above certificate
PhysicalDemands:
Sittingat desk for periods of time while using a keyboard in repetitive motions andstanding.
Lifting40 lbs or less and only occasional.
PhysicalEnvironment:
Officeis private and located in the Life Center
WorkingConditions:
Mustbe able to work a flexible schedule and all weekends during the school yearwhile maintaining an average of 18 hours per week.
OtherRequirements:
Continuous education inthe evolution of the culture of the Church and how it applies to the programsof responsibility and in the mission vision and values of the community of Parish. Working knowledge of thediversity of the parish community and how it applies to the educationalopportunities of those you serve.
