This position is 8 hours per day - 260 days per year.
Purpose Statement: The job of Transportation Parts Technician is done for the purpose/s of ensuring that services are provided in an efficient and effective manner; maintaining required inventory levels; ensuring specifications quantity and quality of orders; verifying stock and identifying losses; and verifying that all purchasing policies are maintained within the Transportation Department. This job reports to Transportation Shop Manager.
Essential Functions
Conducts physical inventories for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying losses.
Coordinates pick up and disposal of hazardous materials for the purpose of meeting federal state and district regulations.
Distributes stock for the purpose of providing service workers with their needed supplies.
Monitors and processes department data (e.g. maintenance schedules fuel purchases department schedules general documentation etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective department functioning and documenting reference information.
Prepares a variety of documents (e.g. purchase orders work orders usage department schedules warranties etc.) for the purpose of providing necessary information.
Procures equipment supplies and materials (e.g. vehicle parts creepers sponges etc.) for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and proper storage in the facilities.
Receives stock and nonstock items for the purpose of ensuring specifications quantity and quality of orders are correct.
Responds to inquires form a variety of parties for the purpose of responding to problems and providing solutions or directing to appropriate department personnel.
Stocks equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining required inventory supply levels.
Other Function
Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Performs the functions of a Bus Driver for the purpose of meeting student transportation needs.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; operating equipment used in department; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math including calculations using fractions percents and/or ratios; read a variety of manuals write documents following prescribed formats and/or present information to others; and understand complex multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: safety practices and procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and consider a number of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with data of varied types and/or purposes; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze

issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working with detailed information/data; and meeting deadlines and schedules.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision following standardized practices and/or methods; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organizations services.
Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling some climbing and balancing some stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting 25% walking and 25% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free
environment.
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
