This position is responsible for providing accurate accounts payable and disbursement processing services for general accounting invoices. This position will process payments for direct and/of matching invoices to vendors verifying payments maintaining payment files consulting with vendors and staff regarding accounts reconciling payment data and troubleshooting problems with payments and accounts.


Job duties/responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

The employee is a supporting member of a work group that handles all accounting functions within the North Carolina National Accounting Clerk II will be primarily responsible for invoice processing and accounts payable record keeping. This position is responsible for maintaining filing systems for accounting records travel advances reimbursements and correspondence. Good file maintenance includes sorting and organizing documents to be filed filing documents in an orderly and efficient manner retrieval of files as necessary and follow up on any open or pending items. Due to the nature of the position the employee serves as an important link with National Guard units and departmental fiscal personnel. The employee must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with military personnel departmental fiscal staff and clients/customers. Other duties as assigned to complete administrative services as required by the section. Demonstrated experience in explaining and interpreting program information to clients/customers and staff.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) withState Benefits.

To qualify for this position applicants must demonstrate ALL of the following KSAs:

Documented experience in general office work (filing answering phones writing correspondence)
Documented experience in at least two of the following Microsoft Office products (Excel Word Outlook PowerPoint or TEAMS)
Documented experience in accounting procedures mathematics and their application in the work environment.
Documented experience in reviewing and processing information to determine conclusions actions or compliance with applicable laws rules or regulations.
Documented experience to record compile summarize and perform basic analysis of data


Management Preferences (Optional):

These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences.

Knowledge of military organization.
Minimum of one year of administrative experience.
Experience in problem solving skills and determination of the appropriate course of action.

Per 5 CFR 731 upon appointment applicant must be able to obtain a favorable suitability and fitness determination from a Tier 1 background investigation conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Failure to obtain a favorable determination may result in termination of employment.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
