Tecks two regional business units North America and Latin America are responsible for Tecks assets through all phases of safe sustainable development operation and closure. The business units are supported by enterprise-wide functions that set strategic direction establish standards and provide governance as well as supporting the business through shared services centres of excellence and business partnering.
Reporting to the Site Manager the Project Manager is responsible for planning coordinating and supervising field activities comprising annual programs and periodic risk-reduction projects for upto seven sites in the Kootenay region British Columbia. Responsibilities include health and safety management; project planning scheduling budgeting and cost control; procurement and contractor management; field personnel and contractor supervision; and quality control/assurance. This outstanding individual acts as the Teck Representative at Site during field activities.
This position is based out of Kimberley B.C. Travel to sites is required.

Responsibilities

    • Be a courageous safety leader to ensure that all workers including contractors go home safe and healthy every day
    • Adhere to and sponsor safety and sustainability policies and procedures including supervising the timely completion of all health & safety preparations documentation and training for contemplated field activities and supporting on emergency response planning and scenario testing
    • Be an advocate for and promote an inclusive respectful and equitable work environment
    • Support the planning budgeting contracting and field supervision of annual programs and projects
    • Own the preparation evaluation recommendation and award of contracts including development of scopes of work requests for proposals qualified bidder lists and contractor feedback
    • Ensure that change control processes are followed in compliance with Teck procedures
    • Provide rigorous and outcomes-based contractor management and oversight of external consultant and contractor teams including ensuring that all contractor inductions and safe work plans are in place before work commences
    • Complete lessons learned sessions at end of projects
    • Prepare and maintain realistic and comprehensive program and project documentation including schedules annual budgets and monthly forecasts five-year plans project charters and organization charts
    • Conduct timely and comprehensive internal and external reporting
    • Provide input to the site-specific risk registers include identification implementation and verification of controls and development and implementation of risk treatment plans to reduce risks
    • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement passionate about reducing risk and improving cost and schedule efficiency

Qualifications

    • Minimum 10 years demonstrated ability in project management in related fields such as water management mining infrastructure geotechnical environmental or mechanical engineering
    • Site experience acting as the Owners Representative is required
    • Post-secondary degree in engineering or sciences would be an asset
    • A PMP designation would be an asset
    • BC Mines Supervisor Certification required
    • BC Shift Boss certification is an asset
    • Demonstrated experience in the application of British Columbias environmental legislation and permitting processes and the Health Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in BC for closed mine sites
    • Proven experience working effectively independently and in a team-based environment
    • Highly organized with the ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic setting and prioritize competing demands
    • Outstanding interpersonal influencing and communications (written and verbal) skills
$105000 - $130000 a year
