Job Title: Chaplain Department: Ministry Reports To: Director of Ministry and Church Partner Outreach Regular Full Time Non-Exempt SUMMARY: Demonstrates Christ-like behavior and attitude in all job duties and responsibilities. Provides Biblically based counseling to recovery program participants designed to resolve problems including spiritual physical emotional social legal educational chemical dependency alcoholism broken family relationships crimes and serious medical conditions by performing the following duties: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Pastoral and Spiritual Care - Provides pastoral care to students as designated by the Director of Ministry.
- Plans and leads specialized chapel services special ministry events and spiritual retreats as designated by the Director of Ministry.
- Attentive to spiritual needs of staff students and volunteers of the mission.
- Will participate in the administration of sacraments and any ceremonial services conducted at the mission.
- Will provide grief counseling and spiritual support to those staff members and students experiencing the death of family members friends or associates.
- Able to demonstrate an ability to function as a team player.
- Required to read emails daily and respond within 48 hours.
- Must be able to perform all requirements of the job description as stated.
- Must adhere to administrative integrity guidelines for chaplains as stated by the Director of Ministry.
Spiritual Programing/Curriculum - Works in collaboration with all ministry programing and services at the direction of the Director of Ministry to evaluate effective ministry programing for all students.
- Manages Client Track documentation as relevant to all ministry programing.
- Maintains accurate student files both paper and electronic versions.
- Attends all staff meetings and staff devotions and participates in training seminars as scheduled.
- Life application: help recognize and bring resolution to issues that impairs personal development and spiritual growth.
Ministry Community Outreach/Church & Academic Relations - Develop engaging outreach services and opportunity for potential faith-based partners to participate in various ministry opportunities at Los Angeles Mission.
- Conducts assessment of volunteer ministries to participate in chapel services extends invitations and schedules ministries to minister as guest at the mission.
- Develops relationship with local training institutes colleges and universities for students to have internships working alongside Director of Ministry.
- Will assist and support student interns with preparation and presentation of ministry materials.
- Will teach relevant biblical coursework for Global University and the general student body.
