TITLE: Account Specialist Senior Accounting
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Act as a liaison between the finance office schools and district enterprises to implement and maintain sound fiscal practices that are in compliance with State and Federal requirements. Performs technical accounting work requiring independent judgement and knowledge primarily related to Student Activity and districtwide expenditures. Provides related training to schools and enterprises.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education and/or experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferably in a school environment
- State of Arizona Identity Verified (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
- May require a valid Drivers License

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and approve purchase requisitions travel reimbursement requests print shop invoices P-Card purchases and copier maintenance.
- Approve and process Student Activity purchase requisitions and receipts prepare monthly balance reports for sites monthly Governing Board reports train club advisors and provide assistance to school office staff.
- Prepare and process journals for budget transfers field trip charges nutrition services billings and substitute vendor charges.
- Provide technical assistance and run budget reports for schools and departments.
- Provide budget and deposit training to schools and enterprises.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of Federal State and District accounting and reporting requirements for assigned area
- Knowledge of accounting methods practices and procedures
- Knowledge of record keeping/file maintenance practices and procedures
- Knowledge of customer service/public relations practices and procedures
- Skill prioritizing scheduling assigning and reviewing work
- Skill solving problems independently
- Skill utilizing automated systems to maintain databases and generate reports
- Skill accurately inputting and retrieving information from computer databases
- Skill utilizing effective verbal and written communication in the preparation of reports and records
- Skill implementing policies and procedures related to area of assignment
- Skill utilizing customer service techniques in responding to inquiries and complaints
- Skill establishing and maintain effective working relationships

WORKING CONDITIONS:
General Office environment
May need to drive to other sites to complete work assignments
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Position may require climbing stooping standing walking keyboarding talking listening eyestrain and repetitive motions
May be required to travel to in and out-of-district sites
May require lifting and carrying materials and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds
