You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Kinesiology invites applications for a full-time 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor faculty position in Exercise or Sport Science (including but not limited to: Exercise Physiology Exercise Science Sport Science Kinesiology). This role has a 80% teaching responsibility (focused 4/4 course load) and 20% University service expectation. Specific undergraduate courses would include in-person exercise physiology (as well as an exercise physiology recitation course and assist in the oversight of graduate student lab instructors). In addition courses related to human performance and fitness physical activity for special populations biomechanics and motor learning/development may be included. Service expectations would include support for forthcoming CASCE accreditation through NSCA or ACSM accreditation. This workload offers the opportunity to significantly impact our students educational experiences across a range of kinesiology content programs. This position is location-specific to the Boise State University campus in Boise Idaho. The start date for this position is August 2025. Employment visa sponsorship is unavailable for this position
The Department of Kinesiology is dedicated to advancing knowledge of lifelong health physical activity and sport through excellence in teaching innovative research and high impact service.
The Department of Kinesiology employs 19 full-time faculty a team of dedicated adjunct faculty and three professional staff members. Currently the department services nearly 1000 undergraduate and graduate students through undergraduate programs in Kinesiology and K-12 Physical Education and Health graduate programs in Athletic Leadership (MAL) Athletic Training (MAT) Kinesiology (MK and MSnon thesis and thesis tracks and transdisciplinary Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering (a collaboration between Colleges of Engineering and Health Sciences with curriculum tracks in biomechanics human performance and mechanobiology). Further curriculum in Kinesiology supports the neuroscience program in conjunction with biology and psychology which presents additional collaborative opportunities. Kinesiology is also active in the Center for Biomechanics and Orthopaedic Research and the Center for the Study of Aging.

An advanced degree in a Kinesiology-related field (e.g. M.S. Ph.D. Ed.D. or ABD having most or all coursework completed) and equivalent teaching or substantial applied experience.
Holds a terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in a Kinesiology-related field.
Successful teaching at the college or university level.
Ability to teach Exercise Physiology and related areas in Kinesiology: strength and conditioning fitness/wellness physical activity for special populations biomechanics motor behavior (e.g. motor learning/development) or introduction to Kinesiology.
Experience with teaching courses in an online environment.
Familiarity with the CASCE (NSCA) or ACSM accreditation process.
If certified as an athletic trainer instructor for CAATE accredited Athletic Training courses (e.g. introduction to athletic injuries).

Salary is set at $65000.
Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
