The Steam Plant Operator is responsible for operation and maintenance of high pressure gas and oil fired steam boilers. The operator will complete required record keeping as necessary for the plant and equipment.
Roles and Responsibilities
Demonstrates understanding of emergency procedures fire drills evacuation protocols and internal/external disaster procedures including personal role during a fire.
Maintains a safe environment by staying alert to potential hazards like wet floors blocked egress and other unsafe conditions.
Keeps work area clean safe and organized daily following infection prevention and universal precautions.
Provides excellent customer service ensuring no substantiated complaints from patients physicians staff or visitors.
Uses proper lifting techniques to prevent injuries and proactively addresses environmental safety hazards.
Locks and tags out unsafe equipment for repair and promptly reports it to the Facility Manager.
Operates steam plant boilers according to manufacturers specifications and required codes performing approved tests and maintaining required water treatment levels.
Records and reports boiler operation data to the designated manager ensuring all preventive maintenance is conducted on time.
Complies with medical center and local fire safety codes demonstrating knowledge of emergency response procedures and firefighting equipment.
Uses the Facility Work Order System follows Lock Out - Tag Out procedures and assists with other facility tasks including swing operator duties at the main hospital.
