Job Description
For over 100 years Maguire has been an industry leader in the fabrication construction and maintenance of water storage tanks and elevated water towers. The Shop Laborer will perform a variety of tasks within the fabrication shop.
Position Duties
- Cleans and lubricates equipment maintains a manufacturing area free from debris and dirt and readies or puts away tools as assigned.
- Closely follows directions to operate machinery hold or supply materials and tools and load or unload items on machinery.
- Cares for property by repairing yard shoveling and removing snow.
- By using an oxygen acetylene torch cut steel scrap material and carry to bin to assist with burn table operations.
- Fill in blaster for continuing blast booth operations if full-time blaster is absent.
- Performs any unskilled job at the fabrication shop.
- Reports any issues to supervisor or higher-level employee.
- Perform other duties assigned.
Position Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to listen understand and follow directions.
- Ability to work in a variety of roles.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Job training for this position is provided by department trainer.
Work Environment:
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse construction sites by climbing balancing lifting walking stooping and carrying materials.
