Job Description

CVSD seeks a part time energetic behavior interventionist paraeducator to join the CVSD Early Education team in partnership with the CVSD Intensive Support Team to support an inclusive prekindergarten program. This is a 4 day a week position up to 30 hours per week. We are seeking a highly skilled caring individual with specific knowledge and expertise in the areas of early development social-emotional learning & behavior.

Behavior Interventionists provide 1:1 behavioral support and programming for individual and/or small groups of students with significant needs (including students with developmental delays Autism or emotional disabilities). In collaboration with the Intensive Support Team you will have access to high quality professional learning opportunities through a week-long summer institute and weekly program meetings throughout the school year.

Candidates will work under the supervision of a professional to:

  • Direct adjust or develop elements of student instructional and behavioral plans
  • Foster independence so that students can fully participate in school activities
  • Collect maintain and interpret data
  • Assist students physically as required and defined in student plans; this can include restrictive behavior interventions in accordance with established protocols.
  • Integrate instructional behavioral and communication interventions into the classroom
  • Participate in student team meetings with other professional staff

Ideal candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills an understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and demonstrate the ability to build relationships and rapport with students and school teams. This is a great opportunity to work in one of the largest school districts in Vermont and become confident in the field of behavioral programming and therapeutic support within a school setting.

Bachelors degree in education or other appropriate discipline is preferred. Position may include supporting students on the bus to and from school.
