Job Goal:To support English Language Learners in accessing academic content and developing language proficiency by providing instructional linguistic and organizational assistance within the general education Responsibilities:- Support ELL students within general education classrooms by reinforcing academic content and helping clarify instruction and assignments under the direction of the ESL teacher and/or classroom teacher.- Assist students with understanding academic vocabulary and language structures to promote access to content in English Language Arts math science and social studies.- Adapt and scaffold instructional and assessment materials to support ELLs varying levels of English proficiency.- Encourage and foster independence by supporting students in classroom routines organizational skills and language development strategies.- Work with individuals or small groups to provide targeted language and academic support.- Facilitate communication between ELL students and classroom teachers to ensure clarity of expectations and academic tasks.- Provide classroom teachers with insight on student progress challenges and linguistic needs to support effective instruction.- Support ELLs during non-academic school settings (lunch assemblies field trips) as needed to promote inclusion and social interaction.- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when discussing student needs progress and concerns.- Participate in meetings and trainings related to ELL services instructional strategies and cultural competency.- Monitor and record observations of student progress and engagement providing feedback to the ESL and classroom teachers.- Attend all scheduled workshops and professional development related to supporting English Language Learners.
