Job Description

ESY Speech Language Pathologist - Job DescriptionThe Marblehead Public School District is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for an ESY Speech and Language Pathologist to fill an assignment within the successful candidate must have experience with and be knowledgeable of speech and language issues. Additionally the SLP provides consultation to special education programs and staff. This candidate will complete speech and language evaluations and provide prescribed Responsibilities: 1. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational concerns.2. Monitor student progress and make informed timely educational decisions. speech language and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services.4. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation review and reevaluation process.5. Participate in the development of student IEPs. 6. Consult with parents teachers administrators and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available. 7. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies. 8. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services. 9. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families. 10. Provide therapy followup and/or consultation based on student IEPs by providing services on an individual or small-group basis11. Knowledge and experience with AAC devices12. Work with and train educational professionals on strategies for mitigating speech and language disorders 13. Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback. 14. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences. 15. Set high expectations for student achievement and behavior. 16. -Work in general and special education classrooms to improve listening speaking reading writing and learning strategies17. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with others. 18. Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning through appropriate classroom management. 20. Assist students in developing feelings of self worth and in making social adjustments which permit them to cope with disabilities. 21. Maintain appropriate confidential records and provide timely reports.22. Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies. 23. Keep abreast of new information innovative ideas and techniques. 25. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Student ServicesRequirements: Candidates must have their Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education License Licensure from the Massachusetts Board of Speech-Language Pathology and their Certificate of Clinical Competence (Clinical Fellows may be considered). A Speech Pathologist Assistant with exceptional experience will also be considered. Experience across multiple grade levels preferredUnderstanding of trauma-informed practicesCommitment to fostering an inclusive milieu
