Job Description
As aSenior Platform Software Engineer you will be a technical leader responsible for architecting and building the foundational systems that power our entire platform. Youll work with cutting-edge technologies including Quarkus RabbitMQ Kafka ClickHouse AWS PostgreSQL Debezium and LLMs/MCP across Java Python JavaScript/TypeScript and Kotlin. Your focus will be on creating highly scalable maintainable platform services while mentoring other engineers and driving technical excellence.
Your responsibilities
- Technical leadership: Lead the architecture and implementation of complex mission-critical platform services that serve millions of users
- System design: Design and build highly scalable fault-tolerant distributed systems using microservices architecture and cloud-native patterns
- Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with product engineering teams to understand requirements and design platform solutions that accelerate their delivery
- Mentorship: Guide and develop junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews pair programming and technical mentoring
- Technical strategy: Contribute to technical roadmap planning and make architectural decisions that balance innovation with maintainability
- Engineering excellence: Drive best practices in code quality testing monitoring and deployment across the platform organization
- Ownership of your Code: Support the features and services you build including participating in on-call rotations when needed and handling operational responsibilities
What we look for
Required Experience
- 7 years of software engineering experience with at least 4 years in senior individual contributor roles
- Proven track record of architecting and building large-scale distributed systems in production environments
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent practical experience
- Technical mentorship experience with demonstrable impact on junior engineers growth
Technical Expertise
- Expert-level proficiency in Java Python or similar backend languages with deep understanding of performance optimization
- Advanced knowledge of distributed systems architecture including microservices event-driven architecture and data consistency patterns
- Production experience with Apache Kafka Kubernetes Docker and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Strong foundation in database design optimization and distributed data management
- Experience with infrastructure as code CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Understanding of system observability monitoring and debugging complex distributed systems
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence engineering decisions across teams
- Excellent communication skills with experience presenting technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
- Growth mindset with enthusiasm for learning new technologies and sharing knowledge with others
- Strong problem-solving abilities with experience debugging complex production issues
- Collaborative approach to engineering with experience working in cross-functional teams
- Fluency in English (speaking and writing) as our company language
Bonus points
- Staff Engineer experience or demonstrated readiness for technical leadership roles
- Experience with Quarkus Terraform Elasticsearch Debezium ClickHouse or similar technologies
- Experience with LLMs/MCP/Agents (Claude/Gemini/AWS Bedrock)
- Open source contributions or technical writing/speaking experience
- Previous experience scaling engineering teams or establishing technical standards
