Position Summary:
The Technician Operations Lead Pharmacist at Athena Medtech is a licensed pharmacist entrusted with critical oversight of the daily activities of our pharmacy technicians ensuring peak operational excellence within the pharmacy department. This leadership role is designed to strategically bridge the gap between clinical pharmacy practice and technician workflow optimization. Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Oversight & Workflow Management:
- Supervise and expertly coordinate the daily work assignments of pharmacy technicians ensuring the timely accurate and safe dispensing and distribution of medications.
- Proactively identify and address workflow bottlenecks implementing solutions to enhance productivity and efficiency within the pharmacy operations.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide comprehensive training constructive coaching and regular performance feedback to pharmacy technicians and junior staff fostering their professional growth and skill development.
- Serve as a primary resource and mentor guiding technicians in complex situations and promoting adherence to best practices.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal state (Arizona) and institutional regulations policies and guidelines pertinent to pharmaceutical handling compounding and the technician scope of practice.
- Assist with internal audits inventory management and robust quality assurance processes to maintain exceptional standards of medication safety and accuracy.
- Technology & Systems Management:

- Collaborate with IT and vendor support for system upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Process Improvement:

- Interdepartmental Liaison:
- Act as a key liaison between pharmacists technicians and the pharmacy leadership team ensuring effective communication seamless workflow integration and collaborative problem-solving.

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSPharm) from an accredited college of pharmacy is required.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in Arizona (AZ) is required.
- IV certification (if required by state/regulation for sterile compounding oversight) is required.
- Certification in lean/six sigma or pharmacy operations management (e.g. ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) or more years of post-licensure pharmacy experience is required.
