Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage maintain and optimize our database systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing implementing and reviewing database structures to ensure accuracy efficiency and performance. This role requires collaboration with developers system analysts and end users to troubleshoot issues recommend improvements and maintain database integrity and availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and review database systems for new or existing applications
Evaluate current database environments and recommend system changes to improve performance and functionality
Implement new or revised database solutions in alignment with best practices and organizational standards
Provide technical assistance and guidance to development staff including answering technical questions sharing best practices and documenting processes
Monitor performance of database systems and gather information from users and internal logs to diagnose and address inefficiencies
Act as project lead for database performance tuning and issue resolution recommending and implementing improvements
Conduct daily maintenance of production databases including scheduling jobs and managing recovery processes for system issues or failures
Develop and enforce database-related standards procedures and guidelines to support consistent and efficient use
Research evaluate and select appropriate database software based on project and organizational needs
Provide training to users to ensure effective use of database tools and promote self-service capabilities where applicable
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of current experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role
Proficient in database platforms such as Oracle SQL Server MySQL or PostgreSQL
Strong understanding of performance tuning indexing backup/recovery processes and high-availability configurations
Familiarity with database development tools and scripting languages (e.g. SQL PL/SQL T-SQL)
Experience with database security best practices and user access controls
Ability to document procedures write technical instructions and deliver training
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field
Experience with database monitoring tools and automation utilities
Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions (e.g. AWS RDS Azure SQL Google Cloud SQL)
