Job Description
Job Title: Network Security Specialist I
Location: Nashville TN
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Network Security Specialist I to support the implementation monitoring and maintenance of enterprise-wide network security measures. This role involves working with internal stakeholders to identify security requirements performing hands-on configuration of firewalls and intrusion detection systems and assisting in the resolution of network security incidents. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in network security and experience with managing both hardware and software-based security tools.
Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with customers to define system and user-specific security requirements

Design and recommend network security solutions aligned with business needs and technical standards

Coordinate the implementation of network security solutions across environments

Install and monitor security tools including firewalls intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and other threat detection technologies

Perform initial analysis of security anomalies escalate to senior staff when necessary and assist in corrective action implementation

Provide first-level fault management and problem resolution for network security systems

Adjust security configurations and collaborate with service providers to address and resolve security-related issues
-
Monitor networks for active security breaches or abnormal activity; initiate and implement mitigation measures

Document all security incidents changes and findings thoroughly for compliance and audit readiness

Assist in the investigation and response process for security breaches in coordination with incident response teams
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in network security administration

Experience with firewall configuration management and intrusion detection/prevention tools
-
Strong understanding of network protocols routing and TCP/IP
-
Familiarity with common security threats mitigation techniques and response procedures

Ability to analyze security data and logs to identify and remediate vulnerabilities or attacks

Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Associates or Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity Information Technology or related field

Experience with security tools such as Palo Alto Cisco ASA Snort Splunk or similar platforms
-
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security Cisco CCNA Security or GIAC certifications

Experience in a public-sector enterprise or multi-site network environment
