Position: Medical Physicist (Radiology CT MRI Dental)
Location: Butler PA & Mercer PA
Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
Work Schedule: Monday Friday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM EST
Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified Medical Physicist to support imaging and radiation safety compliance at healthcare facilities in Butler and Mercer Pennsylvania. This role involves conducting safety surveys equipment testing and providing both onsite and remote consulting services. The ideal candidate will be Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in X-ray and Gamma Ray Physics and hold a recognized designation as an MRI Safety Expert (MRSE).
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct annual and initial radiation safety surveys for:
General Radiography (stationary and portable)
DEXA scanners
CT and MRI units
Dental X-ray units (intraoral and panoramic)
Perform equipment acceptance testing prior to clinical use
Serve as designated MRI Safety Expert (MRSE)
Provide consulting for radiation safety and equipment QA/QC
Generate detailed technical reports with findings and recommendations
Respond to urgent testing needs (e.g. post-maintenance or new installations) within 48 hours
Coordinate testing and reporting schedules with facility staff and radiology supervisors
Ensure full regulatory compliance with all relevant federal state and local guidelines
Minimum Qualifications:
Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in X-ray and Gamma Ray Physics
Recognized MR Safety Expert (MRSE) designation
At least 3 years of clinical medical physics experience
Proficiency in radiation shielding design imaging QA/QC testing and compliance documentation
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Completion of annual mandatory Privacy and Safety Training
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in federally regulated or military healthcare environments
Familiarity with electronic documentation systems and invoice submission
Physical & Operational Requirements:
Willingness to travel between facilities in Butler and Mercer counties
Ability to transport and operate physics testing equipment
Adherence to healthcare facility security and identification protocols
