Job Description

Position Summary:The Licensing Associate is a strategic flexible professional with a passion for working with people and animals by working closely to shelter staff to provide optimum support to the organization. The Licensing Associate is responsible for identifying barriers assessing needs providing consultation support and follow-through by delivering a broad range of supportive services.
Classification:Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Type: Full-time
Pay Range:18.50/hour 25.00/hour
Supervisor:Shelter Director of Operations
Location: Auburn WA.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in municipal licensing animal welfare or related administrative role.
  • Proficiency with shelter software systems (PetPoint preferred).
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to type at least 45 WPM accurately.
  • Strong communication critical thinking and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Washington State drivers license and current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Specific Duties:
  • Develop implement and maintain AVHS pet licensing policies and procedures in accordance with city county and state regulations.
  • Manage all aspects of pet license issuance renewal data entry and reconciliation.
  • Maintain accurate and complete licensing records including digital and paper files.
  • Generate weekly monthly and annual licensing reports for internal use and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate and support reciprocal licensing agreements with partner municipalities and agencies.
  • Provide training and oversight to licensing volunteers and support staff.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of licensing cash box and ensure compliance with cash-handling protocols.
  • Ensure timely mailing of licensing reminders renewal notices and enforcement communications.
  • Represent AVHS at relevant public meetings events or community education opportunities related to pet licensing.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of licensing materials and ensure all supplies are stocked and organized.
  • Support public awareness campaigns related to pet licensing compliance.
  • Provide high-quality customer service regarding licensing inquiries via phone email and in-person communication.
  • Build effective cooperative working relationships with AVHS staff members and other AVHS departments.
  • Demonstrate a positive image of AVHS through constructive public relations interactions.
  • This position works daily in an animal shelter.
  • This position will come in direct contact with animals and will be exposed to animal-related smells and sounds.
  • To perform other reasonable duties time to time as assigned by the Director of Public Services or the President/CEO.
Physical Demands:
  • Individuals will frequently be required to speak publicly; stand walk or sit for extended periods of time hear sufficiently; reach bend or stoop regularly lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
