Senior DevOps Engineer - Canberra - 12 months
Clearance: Must hold Baseline Security Clearance and have the ability to obtain NV1
About the Role
Are you a hands-on DevOps engineer ready to contribute to mission-critical projects in a high-trust security-conscious environment Were seeking a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join a dynamic federal program in Canberra. You will lead the design implementation and optimization of CI/CD pipelines infrastructure automation and secure cloud deployments predominantly within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
This is a high-impact opportunity for an engineer who thrives in collaborative environments embraces Infrastructure as Code and is passionate about delivering secure scalable and reliable systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design build and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps and Jenkins to enable rapid high-quality deployments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep ARM templates PowerShell and YAML.
- Automate provisioning and management of Azure-based cloud environments ensuring scalability availability and compliance.
- Collaborate with software engineers architects and cyber security teams to implement secure DevOps practices including SAST/DAST.
- Support version control using Git and lead configuration management for development and production environments.
- Drive continuous improvement in system performance reliability monitoring and alerting frameworks.
- Champion DevOps best practices across teams and coach junior engineers in modern cloud-native approaches.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders both technical and non-technical to understand requirements and deliver outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in DevOps including pipeline design IaC and automation in enterprise environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Azure and familiar with AWS environments.
- Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and automation experience using Azure Functions or Logic Apps.
- Hands-on experience with Git Jenkins YAML ARM and Bicep.
- Strong knowledge of security practices in DevOps including static and dynamic code analysis.
- Experience with tools such as Micro Focus Fortify ServiceNow and SailPoint.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers testers architects and cyber security professionals.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with technical and business stakeholders alike.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Baseline security clearance is required; NV1 eligibility is mandatory.
