Job Summary:
DT Professional Services is seeking a full time Drafter/ CAD Operator to join our onsite team in Norco Drafter/CAD Operator prepares complete and highly detailed sets of engineering drawings or computer models that include multiple views subassemblies and precise specifications. These drawings support the design construction testing and maintenance of complex systems or facilities often for Department of Defense (DoD) programs. The position requires advanced drafting skill applied mathematics and familiarity with technical specifications to visualize and translate engineering concepts into working documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare complete sets of complex engineering drawings or 3D models using AutoCAD SolidWorks or other CAD software.
- Develop detail assembly and schematic drawings from layouts sketches electronic schematics and verbal input provided by engineers or architects.
- Apply mathematical formulas to compute weights load capacities center of gravity dimensions and materials required.
- Select and extract data from CAD libraries technical manuals manufacturer catalogs and online databases to support project documentation.
- Interpret engineering concepts and specifications to develop printed circuit board layouts and test equipment drawings.
- Create construction and civil engineering drawings for infrastructure projects such as floodgates dams levees culverts or utility systems including detailed profiles and topographical features.
- Independently resolve drafting issues and coordinate with project leads to address complex or conflicting design elements.
- Ensure that all drawings conform to applicable DoD/Navy standards drafting conventions and established engineering practices.
Basic Qualifications:
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in drafting/CAD in a government military or engineering environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD SolidWorks or similar CAD platforms.
- Solid understanding of mechanical electrical and civil engineering principles as applied to drafting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical schematics drawings and design standards.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical drafting certification or associate degree.
- Experience supporting Department of the Navy NSWC or other DoD agencies.
- Familiarity with MIL-STD drawing formats and Navy drawing practices.
- Knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Revit or other modeling software is a plus.
- Experience preparing deliverables compliant with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC).
The compensation range for this position: $30.79 - $32.50 an hour.
