DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential functions):
- *Serves as Lead System Administrator to manage Linux and Windows servers for various UH Enterprise Systems applications.
- *Install configure and maintain Linux and Windows operating systems in support of Information Technology Services (ITS) projects.
- *Install configure and maintain vSphere Hypervisor vCenter management system and server storage management software supporting the ITS virtualization infrastructure.
- *Install configure and maintain server and storage hardware supporting the ITS virtualization infrastructure.
- *Directly utilize the Enterprise Backup system to restore backups of Virtual Machines and files as needed.
- *Monitor the availability and performance of systems infrastructure supporting assigned applications and taking appropriate action to service downtime degradation or interruption.
- *Develop document and implement standard operating procedures related to Linux and Windows systems management.
- *Develop and document scripting and applications to support automation enhancing and automating managing of assigned systems.
- *Works on call as Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to respond to the ITS incident management system during service interruptions degradation of service and downtime for assigned systems to ensure security and errata patches are applied as required by ITS policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a pertinent baccalaureate educational degree in Computer Science or related field and 3 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for System Administration of which 2 years of the experience must have been comparable in scope and complexity to the next lower payband in the University of Hawaii broadband system; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of Linux and Windows System Administration as demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts principles and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology systems hardware and software associated with Linux and Windows System Administration.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes and apply principles and practices to determine evaluate integrate and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
- If applicable for supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.
- Considerable working knowledge in managing and maintaining management software for virtual environments (e.g. vSphere and vCenter).
- Demonstrated ability in managing and maintaining server and storage hardware supporting a virtualization system.
- Demonstrated ability to speak read comprehend interpret and write fluently in English.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies independently and in a timely manner using books manuals and other resources.
- Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours including day night weekend and/or holiday hours asdirected.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Considerable working knowledge in performing System Administrator duties for Red Hat Linux 8.
- Considerable working knowledge in performing System Administrator duties for Windows Server 2019.
- Considerable working knowledge in performing Active Directory Administrator duties on a Windows Server 2016 or higher Active Directory environment.
- Demonstrated ability in managing and maintaining HPE server and storage hardware supporting a VMWare virtualization system.
- Demonstrated ability in managing backups using Veeam Backup and Replication.
- Demonstrated ability in working with Kubernetes or OpenShift.
