Job Description

We are representing a well-established oil & gas operating company based in Austin TX that is seeking to add an Accounting Analyst to its team.

This role will be responsible for a range of accounting functions including operating expense accruals workover accruals ad valorem data collection and entry advanced expense entries and support on special projects. As an Accounting Analyst you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy integrity and compliance of oil and gas properties across multiple entities. This position will also collaborate with internal stakeholders to support decision-making processes drive operational efficiency and maintain accurate operating expenditures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oil and gas accounting exceptional attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare accounting accrual entries on a monthly basis ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies to identify trends risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support external vendor and act as main point of contact for all Ad Valorem needs.
  • Prepare and analyze account reconciliations relevant to accrual entries.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide accounting information to support internal stakeholders in making business decisions.
  • Support external audits providing documentation and explanations as needed to auditors.
  • Assist on special projects as needed.
Qualifications include:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting finance or related field required.
  • CPA certification a plus.
  • 3-10 year of experience in accounting with at least 1 year in the upstream oil and gas industry.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate findings effectively.
