Position Overview

The Director of Marketing and Communications will report to the Vice President of Agency Advancement and work among a collaborative team of fundraising enthusiasts. The Director of Marketing and Communications is the main agency contact for all fundraising and program marketing. Marketing at Italian Home for Children includes print materials e-communications social media presence press releases annual reports website development appeal and donor letters internal and external communications agency swag and the written and visual aspects of events for Italian Home for Children. The Director of Marketing and Communications is a critical member of the Development Team while also being a very close partner to program leaders to drive the communitys attention to program offerings. The Director of Marketing and Communications is an ethical and compelling storyteller bringing to light the organizations impact to potential and current employees foundations donors and the larger Director of Marketing and Communications believes in the mission and articulates the impact through in-person and virtual meetings with community stakeholders.

This is a full-time exempt position with some weekend and evening obligations. This is a hybrid position requiring at least two days per week on-site at our Jamaica Plain campus in addition to the previously stated obligations.

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the duties and responsibilities that will be required of the position but additional responsibilities may be required. Employees are expected to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

Essential Functions & Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Strategize create and execute an agency-specific marketing and communications plan
  • Design all fundraising and programmatic marketing collateral
  • Create content for and deliver all e-communications including monthly newsletters
  • Manage content and interactions for Italian Home for Childrens social media accounts including Facebook Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events with a primary focus on the written and verbal communications and materials related to events
  • Identify ways to tell the story or explain the qualitative and quantitative impact of the organization or specific programs
  • Manage and update Italian Homes website
  • Write eloquent and compelling content for grants
  • Copyedit any content created by the Development Team to ensure branding continuity professionalism compelling language and proofreading for errors
  • Maintain Italian Homes inventory of promotional materials/swag updating as needed
  • Through professional development keep up-to-date with trends in stewardship marketing communications events and the development field in general
  • Produce quantitative data driven reports regarding all forms of marketing attempts and the outcomes of the efforts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Seven years of marketing and communication experience preferably in nonprofit organizations strongly preferred
  • Bachelors degree strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in e-communications and social media management
  • Experience with website management and knowledge of WordPress is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to Italian Home for Children business development and fundraising practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and design platforms (such as Canva)
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral communication interpersonal skills and writing abilities
  • Skilled at interacting with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles in a diverse environment
  • Must be receptive and responsive to supervision and professional development demonstrated ability to accept and give critical feedback
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
  • A strong and positive representative of the agency in the community
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality regarding clients and employees; adhere to all HIPPA guidelines and regulations
