This position functions as an advanced level departmental technician and is the recognized resource for research proposal
validity and for the selection and assignment of Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) members for each proposal. The
advanced level technician is responsible for reviewing and monitoring all research and programmatic data for research
studies including reviewing all documentation submitted to vital records for a specific research proposal to ensure the
request is valid and complete reviewing and interpreting the appropriate contract language associated with the request and
providing it to the requestor and providing the requestor with all associated mailing materials. In addition this position has
overall responsibility to both recruit and finalize the selection of members for the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) specific to
each research proposal and ensures contract and research compliance. The technician must review and identify alignment
of board members skillset with a specific research project edit reports associated with each research proposal and
provides newly selected SAB members with any related correspondence.
In addition the technician is a liaison between the Research & Data Request Unit and Data Requestors requesting Cancer
and Birth Defect research data.

To be considered for this position you must:
Education
Education typically acquired through completion of high school.
Two years of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Two years of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.
OR
Three years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced level in state service.
Departmental Technician 10
Possession of a Bachelors degree and one year of professional experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.
Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 333 S. Grand Avenue in Lansing MI. Based on operational needs and within established limits remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests for this position may be considered. Selected candidates who have been approved to work remotely or a hybrid schedule must complete that work within Michigan. Candidates should confirm work location and schedule at the time of interview.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications. If working remotely employees will be responsible for providing other components of a remote office at their own expense including:
