Description

Job Title: Substance Use Counseling Intern (CADC Track Outpatient Clinic)

Internship Duration: August 2025 August 2026
Schedule: Part-time (flexible based on academic requirements)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate intern pursuing CADC certification to join our outpatient behavioral health clinic. This one-year internship offers hands-on experience in substance use disorder (SUD) counseling with a focus on individualized outpatient care. Interns will work under the supervision of licensed professionals and gain practical experience in client engagement treatment planning and clinical documentation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with intake assessments and development of individualized outpatient treatment plans.
  • Provide supervised one-on-one counseling sessions to clients.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic health records in compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings case consultations and clinical supervision.
  • Support clients in accessing community-based recovery resources and services.
  • Engage in ongoing training and reflective supervision to support professional development.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed an Accredited Training Program (ATP) approved by the Illinois Certification Board (ICB).
  • Actively pursuing CADC certification in Illinois.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical practice and cultural humility.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient clinical environment.
  • Must pass background check and meet clinic onboarding requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience (volunteer or paid) in outpatient behavioral health or social services.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
