Position Title: Special Education Coordinator (Grades 35)
Location: Enfield Public Schools Enfield CT
Reports To: Director of Pupil Services
Position Summary:
The Special Education Coordinator for Grades 35 provides leadership and oversight for special education programming ensuring compliance with IDEA and Connecticut state regulations. This role supports inclusive practices data-driven instruction and collaborative problem-solving to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with IDEA Section 504 and Connecticut special education regulations.
- Coordinate and facilitate Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings ensuring timely evaluations IEP development and service delivery.
- Implement evidence-based instructional practices and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS).
- Support the use of universal design for learning (UDL) and assistive technology to promote access to the general curriculum.
- Monitor student progress using data-based decision-making and adjust programming accordingly.
- Provide professional development and coaching to staff on inclusive practices behavior supports and legal compliance.
- Collaborate with families general education staff and community agencies to support student success.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with CSDE guidance and IDEA mandates.
Required Qualifications:
- CT Certification:
- Intermediate Administrator or Supervisor (#092) ()
- Comprehensive Special Education PreK12 (#165)
- Special education teaching experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA Section 504 and Connecticut special education law and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IEP development software and CT-SEDS (Connecticut Special Education Data System).
- Familiarity with CSDEs Special Education Procedures and Practices Manual.
- Knowledge of transition planning functional behavior assessments (FBA) and positive behavior intervention supports (PBIS).
- Strong interpersonal organizational and leadership skills.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
