Salary Schedule: Non-negotiated salary grade 21X / 2025-2026 base salary: $119390.65

Position Purpose: This role serves as a strategic financial partner to Division Chiefs and Department Leaders playing a critical part in supporting student success by helping schools and departments operate more effectively efficiently and equitably. As an FP&A Lead you will work closely with senior leadership to influence decisions that shape the entire school community. Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Lead Financial Modeling: Develop and maintain detailed financial models to forecast staffing spending and funding needs across departments and school sites.
- Support Strategic Planning: Build multi-year financial projections and scenario analyses to inform long-term planning and resource allocation.
- Empower Educational Leaders: Partner with principals department heads and district leaders to provide budget guidance training and monthly financial performance reviews.
- Drive Insightful Analysis: Analyze budget-to-actual results identify trends and risks and deliver actionable recommendations to improve financial outcomes.
- Elevate Transparency: Prepare clear concise reports and presentations for internal stakeholders the Board of Education and the public.
- Advance Equity Through Finance: Help align financial decisions with district goals around educational equity student achievement and operational excellence.
- Ensure Accountability: Support audits compliance and consistent application of financial policies across the district.
- Innovate Financial Systems: Help modernize tools streamline workflows and enhance district-wide financial literacy and decision-making.
- Foster Team and Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with your FP&A team and across the Accounting & Finance Department to ensure cohesive planning and execution aligned with district priorities.
Additional Duties:
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Bachelors degree required. A degree in Finance Accounting Economics Business or related field is preferred. A degree in another field may be considered with significant relevant experience in financial analysis planning or budgeting. An advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CPA CGFM MBA) is preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in financial analysis planning or budgeting. Experience in the public sector K-12 education or non-profit finance is preferred.
- Deep understanding of financial best practices; knowledge of governmental accounting (GAAP GASB) preferred.
- Expert in Excel with strong proficiency in financial reporting tools (Power BI Tableau etc.).
- Excellent communicator and trusted advisor with ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences.
- Highly organized proactive and mission-aligned with a strong commitment to equity transparency and public service.
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use basic office equipment such as computers copiers and scanners. Must always comply with OPSs guidelines for equipment use.
Travel:Limited travel may be required.

- Contact with personnel within the district and with customers and vendors.

- Must understand and respond appropriately to customer needs and maintain a positive attitude with all customers and colleagues.
- Expected to interact with all internal and external customers in a friendly professional manner and provide quick responsive customer service.
Employee Punctuality and Appearance:
- In order for schools to operate effectively employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday unless the employee has received approved leave.
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employees supervisor or building administrator.
- All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of Omaha Public Schools and is appropriate for their position.
Terms of Employment:
This position is treated as a full-time exempt classified position. The terms of your employment will be governed by applicable state laws regulating employment in a Nebraska public school and Board of Education policies as those laws and policies may change from time to time. If your position is represented by a collective bargaining representative then your employment will also be governed by a negotiated agreement between OPS and that collective bargaining representative.
