This position has an evening and weekend delivery component (weeknight evenings (Monday - Thursday) and every second Saturday). Work during some daytime hours will also be required.
The salary scale for NSCC Faculty is based on steps that range from $74170.79 - $102223.12. New Faculty may receive up to a maximum of five steps for relevant occupational experience and may receive up to an additional four steps for full-time equivalent years of instructional experience (instructional experience is defined as teaching post-secondary). The maximum a new Faculty can expect to receive is nine steps or $95478.45.
As a member of the School of Trades and Transportation faculty team you will:
Provide theoretical and practical instruction in Carpentry. This position may involve teaching within any of our lines of business (e.g. certificate/diploma programs continuing education customized learning and/or apprenticeship).
Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
The minimum educational qualification for this position is Interprovincial Journeyperson status in the Carpentry Trade.
You have a minimum of five years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in the field of residential/commercial carpentry. NOTE: Two years of your training will be counted towards the educational requirements and cannot be included as part of your occupational experience.
You have demonstrated knowledge and practice in implementing energy efficient building practices including NBCs R-2000 and the ENERGY STAR for New Homes Standard.
Occupational experience within a Building Information Modelling (BIM) environment including the implementation of sustainable building practices will be considered an asset.
You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite and email. Experience delivering courses through an online learning platform such as Brightspace will be considered an asset.
Teaching experience specifically in an adult learning environment will be considered an asset.

As a condition of employment Faculty at NSCC must complete a part-time adult education program delivered by NSCC. This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees. To achieve regular status all probationary full or part-time Faculty of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period. Term full-time Faculty whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
