You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Department of Biological Sciences at Thompson Rivers University is made up of a diverse and collaborative group of faculty offering a . degree with majors in: Biology; Animal Biology; Ecology and Environmental Biology; Cellular Molecular and Microbial Biology; and in collaboration with the Department of Physical Sciences Chemical Biology. Cross-cutting themes include: the evolutionary frameworks guiding fundamental and applied ecology; responses of humans and diverse living communities to external stressors including cellular responses; the use of classical and modern statistical bioinformatic and genomic tools to interrogate hypotheses and develop solutions for environmental problems. Core to these themes is a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship collaboration within the Department and with colleagues across campus participation in undergraduate Honors and MSc programs and developing a positive environment where students are encouraged to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers.
Responsibilities include:
Delivering lectures face-to-face for both sections of this Biology of the Environment course (Biol 1040: 3 credits) preparing (0.5 credits) and leading labs (2 credits) marking exams and assignments consulting with students in person on email or via Moodle. We are currently seeking a Biologist to deliver lectures in our Biology of the Environment courses for Non-Science majors and student interested in the Biology. Successful candidates will have relevant training in Biology and experience doing field work with laboratory techniques in environmental sciences. Ideally they will have completed a PhD in Biology or a related discipline along with demonstrated teaching experience at the university level. Applicants with an . and demonstrated experience may also be considered.
