The Zoo is recruiting for Part-Time Temporary Cash Management/Reservation Assistant Positions

Part-time Full-time Hours:

Temporary part-time positions are assigned to the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources - NC Zoo in Asheboro Randolph County. Position will work flexible schedules and hours based on business needs.

Primary Purpose:

The NC Zoos Cash Management and Reservations Branch supports the NC Zoos annual 1M guests in a manner consistent with the environment of the zoo as a tourism destination and accredited institution. The Cash Management Branch provides the operating funds for the Zoos Admissions and Entertainment branches makes bank deposits for the Zoo and provides all financial reporting for the Zoo. The Reservations Branch is responsible for reservations/pre-paid sales for activities such as (but not limited to) zoo tickets educational programs group sales picnic rentals online sales or reservations and catered events at the zoo.

Positions will rotate between both Reservations and the Cash Management Office as needed. Will be cross trained in both areas as time and staffing allows.

Positionswork under direct supervision of the Cash Management Supervisor.
Temporary positions work 25 35 hours per week including holidays and weekends. Work hours are between 8:00 a.m.and 5:30 p.m.
and are based on the weather and guest attendance at the park.


Cash Management Assistant/Reservation Assistant
TheCash Management and Reservations Branch safeguards all cash and credit transactions at the Zoo as well as reservations for activities such as (but not limited to) picnic rentals education programs corporate events private functions school registrations making change and counting of cash and cash items. Job activities include ticketing and customer recovery services to visitors employees and for Reservations Branch functions. Reservations/Cash Office Branch operations utilize computerized point-of-sale system and on-line reservations software e-commerce on-line activities phone and walk-in requests for reservations and information regarding rental or registered events at the zoo. This branch also captures and reports operational data for the Guest Services Section. Equipment includes point of sale and on-line reservations software specialty printers email and phone calculators currency counters. Required to provide timely accurate friendly efficient and effective information and reservation procedures to the Zoos guests and guests invited to special events and/or affairs at the Zoo. This branch is a component of the revenue-collecting unit of the Zoo. Employees in Cash Management/Reservations work under direct supervision of the Cash Management Supervisor.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Position will rotate between working Online Ticket Sales and the Cash Management Office as needed. Will be cross trained in both areas
  • Good Customer Service skills whether in person on phone or online in dealing with both internal and external customers.
  • Responsible for park ticket sales through group sales picnic rentals online sales or other reservations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy when entering data both alphabetical and numerical
  • Use of a computer and other standard office equipment to perform daily activities.
  • Fully accountable for cash cash items and making change.
  • Display a sense of urgency and professionalism at all times
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Available to work weekdays weekends and holidays. The Zoo is a 7-day operation and only closed on Thanksgiving Day Christmas Day and occasionally for inclement weather.
  • Position is an 11-month position with a 35-day break in service during a calendar year; the time of the 35-day break in service will be based on business needs.
  • Approximate hours per week are 24-40 depending on staffing levels and business needs
  • Must comply with the NC Zoo Dress Code and Appearance Policy.
  • Must be willing and able to work varied and long shifts including holidays weekends and in support of special events after hours as needed.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified candidates must have or be able to:


  • Demonstrated experience in cash handling to include handling large volumes of money.
  • Demonstrated experience using computer systems and/or Point of Sale software to account for cash and cash items.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma

AND

one year of administrative experience;

OR

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
