Description

DIRECTOR OF THE CENTER FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Bridgewater College seeks an engaged professional to oversee the Center for Career Developments career education programs and manage career-oriented relations with external stakeholders including alumni local employers corporate/graduate school recruiters and disciplinary professional organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reporting to the Associate Provost the Director manages all aspects of the Center for Career Development (CCD) including establishing office policies and procedures and ensuring the effectiveness of CCD services.
  • The Director leads strategic initiatives for the Center including working with faculty and staff to implement career education programs that reflect the Colleges strong institutional commitment to student outcomes.
  • The Director develops and cultivates relationships with off-campus partners alumni and area institutions of higher learning to facilitate educational internship experiential learning opportunities for BC students.
  • Each academic year the Director organizes and leads two large on-campus career-exploration events and facilitates smaller major-specific career panels at the school or employment-sector level.
  • As a member of the Academic Affairs team the Director works with faculty advisors and other staff to promote the integration of career education into general education and major curricula including as co-chair of the Flight Path Committee.
  • The Director works closely with the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Student Life to coordinate career-oriented programming on a college-wide level.
  • The Director emphasizes facilitating social mobility through equitable access to connections and experiences for all students regardless of background or social capital.
  • The Director supervises and ensures a positive supportive and development-oriented work environment for the centers professional support and student workers.
  • The Director manages the Center for Career Development budget.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degreeand a minimum of five years of career-services or related experience with demonstrated success in career development career counseling or human resources in a higher education environment required.
  • Experience in program development and assessment required.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring professional staff required.
  • A clear commitment to serving and engaging students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working with and presenting to diverse audiences required.
  • Commitment to and experience fostering mutually beneficial and long lasting relationships with external campus partners required.

Pay is competitive and salary is commensurate with experience. This full-time position offers a full benefits package including paid tuition at the College for eligible dependents.

GENERAL INFORMATION:Bridgewater College was founded in 1880 as a coeducational liberal arts college to serve the local community. Located in the scenic Shenandoah Valley just minutes outside of Harrisonburg and within driving distance of Charlottesville Washington D.C. and Richmond Bridgewater is home to approximately 1400 full-time students from 26 states and 19 countries. Bridgewater students study across 60 majors and minors in addition to four graduate programs and 10 pre-professional programs.
