POSITION ASSIGNMENT / JOB PURPOSE
The Maintenance Manager oversees the maintenance and repair of all manufacturing equipment facilities and systems within the plant. This leadership role ensures optimal equipment performance minimizes downtime and promotes a safe efficient and cost-effective maintenance operation. The ideal candidate will lead a team of maintenance technicians develop maintenance strategies and collaborate with production to support continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing implementing and sustaining predictive preventative and corrective maintenance programs. This includes both mechanical electrical and reliability teams.
Along with the day to day duties the Maintenance Manager will guide the sites reliability efforts by leading the continuous improvement initiatives currently in place and improving them based on the plants needs.

Plant reliability and capacity are key business NFK plant is more isolated than the European plants and has to be self-sufficient and able to supply the market needs.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
An accountable leader in terms of safety
Answers to the Plant Manager and the authorities for safe working conditions of those under their responsibility or those working within their perimeter of responsibility. A leader of safety across the site setting an example to all. Acts to eliminate all dangerous actions.
A result-oriented and reactive provider of a quality service
Guarantees the standard reliability and availability of the installation as well as the ability of their teams to act quickly in the event of breakdown or to adapt to production requirements.
Fosters talent and unifies member of the site management team
Develops the technical and inter-personal skills of those working in the team creates a positive working atmosphere promoting cooperation between the team and the production dept. and with other entities within the company aimed at optimising collective performance. Develops the skills of the team to levels enabling a managed delegation of maintenance responsibility in everyday operation.
A meticulous analytical and methodical organizer
The team should achieve the standard benchmark performance consistently and at best global cost. Seeks precision in the application of the procedures and an ability to anticipate. Structures the management of the maintenance data and decisions through the intelligent use of the CMMS tool. Inspection -> Planning -> Job execution functions integrated together with the CMMS tool at the heart of the process. Seeks new efficiency gains by constantly analyzing data from the CMMS tool: intelligent reductions in Preventive Maintenance frequencies; identify reliability improvement opportunities; benchmark against other plants etc. Organizes and manages maintenance shutdowns and projects taking responsibility for quality control costs and durations and coordinates procurements.
Repository/sharer of operational know-how Holder of strategic knowledge
Ensures the preservation updating diffusion and allocation to the right level of the operation know-how required for the maintenance of the installation. Insists that ALL equipment information is stored within the CMMS: equipment specs costs preventive maintenance routines inspection and calibration data breakdown info etc. Ensures that the construction standards are kept updated in liaison with the Projects Engineer. Formalizes and maintains the basis for the construction standards and the maintenance procedure choices.
Entrepreneurial spirit
Manages the team by instilling the level of energy and dynamism required to build the future e.g.: improvements in procedures and the CMMS tool to deliver improvements in the services provided for production raising the performance standards developing new technologies perfecting the operation of new or modified installations. Validates all modifications likely to have an impact on the conditions of use of the equipment. Improvement/Upgrade projects run internally to Maintenance Dept work in tandem with Projects Dept to decide on division of responsibilities.

KEY SKILLS:
1. Leadership & Supervision:
Lead train and develop the maintenance team to ensure high performance and safety standards.
Oversee and give input to maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive maintenance.
Possess a proactive means to solving problems overcoming difficulties or being able to take advantage of an opportunity that will arise in the future and that is not necessarily immediately obvious to those involved.
Candidates must be able to command respect within the organization through a combination of experience technical expertise and management style.
2. Maintenance Planning & Execution:
Track record of experience using a CMMS tool to drive improvements within a Maintenance organization.
Develop and implement preventive predictive and corrective maintenance programs.
Oversee maintenance work orders documentation and reporting.
Coordinate with production to plan maintenance activities around production schedules.
Oversee the automation network with an understanding of how different components communicate.
Manage & Oversee Kiln Shutdowns - focusing on scheduling contractor budgeting parts supply and lessons learned.
Drive a 5 year Maintenance Project Plan (Capex & R/M).
3. Equipment & Facility Reliability:
Monitor equipment performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machinery issues.
Manage spare parts inventory and procurement to ensure availability of critical components.
Perform and document equipment assessments for strategy development and implementation as well as maintain equipment history database
Develop a working knowledge of plant assets identify new technologies and implement on site to improve reliability and reduce maintenance cost
Knowledge of PLC and/or DCS programs and fault finding and working knowledge of VSD (variable speed drives).
4. Safety & Compliance:
Enforce safety policies and procedures ensuring compliance with MSHA and other regulatory standards.
Conduct safety training and audits regularly.
Sets site standards for electrical work and ensures adherence to code (i.e. NFPA 70E NEC).
5. Budget & Cost Control:
Continuously monitor maintenance spend.
Track/communicate larger maintenance expenditures.
Control costs by optimizing labor parts and contract services.
Work with plants Project Managers Engineers and coordinators to improve reliability and ensure spare parts strategy is optimized.
6. Vendor & Contractor Management:
Select evaluate and manage relationships with external service providers and contractors.
Ensure quality and timely completion of outsourced maintenance work.
7. Continuous Improvement & Technology:
Practical experience with Condition Based Maintenance program (CBM) or Reliability Centered Maintenance programs
Stay updated on industry best practices and new maintenance technologies.
Implement innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
Facilitate the development of appropriate Reliability and Maintainability analytics that align with targeted site goals and objectives.
Maintain and Execute Root Cause Analysis on failures of equipment or processes to develop improvements in equipment PM or PdM strategies to prevent re-occurring incidents.
The candidate is able to bring new ideas and fresh initiatives to the site and company.
Qualifications:
- Experience of Maintenance Management from an outside company.
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical Industrial Engineering or related field; relevant work experience may be considered.
- Proven experience (10 years) in industrial maintenance with at least 4 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment electrical systems hydraulics pneumatics and PLCs.
- Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage maintenance budgets and project timelines.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) software.
- Commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
Preferred Skills:
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in a specific industry (e.g. automotive food & beverage pharmaceuticals).
- Knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (Vibration analysis oil analysis thermography etc.)
