Job Description
Central Downtown Preschool
Lead Daycare Teacher
Summary:
Central Downtown Preschool is looking for a lead daycare teacher. Our preschool is diverse with many of its students on scholarship to attend. This position will be responsible for creating a yearly calendar weekly lesson plans and a daily schedule along with maintaining the classroom for up to 13 students. The head daycare teacher will lead classroom management preparation for class time and care of the students.
Date/Time:
- August 20th - May 20th
- Monday-Friday from 7:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Core Competencies:
- Writing engaging age-appropriate lesson plans and implementing them in class.
- Monitoring and supervising children in the classroom playground and during activities.
- Helping maintain a clean organized and safe learning space.
- Leading assistant daycare teachers in classroom management.
- Observing children for developmental milestones and any concerns that need to be communicated with parents.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Engaging with children and participating in educational activities.
Job Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree
- 2 years experience working with children
- Comfortable working with young children (helping with the restroom and assisting in behavior management)
- Humility (putting the needs of the families we serve first)
- Compassion (looking at those we serve through the eyes of Christ)
- Communication (effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others in a diverse community including other staff and parents)
- The lead daycare teacher will display an ability to guide and care for children. They will demonstrate flexibility and the ability to stay calm in any situation along with a willing attitude to jump in and help where needed.
Staff Relationships:
- Reports to the Director
- Works closely with assistant daycare teachers to facilitate the classroom routines rules and procedures.
- Works with other staff members in various capacities of care for the children.
