Job Summary

This position is responsible for supporting the Business Line of Credit (BLOC) and Commercial Line of Credit (CLOC) programs. This entails underwriting monitoring closing and servicing the BLOC and CLOC portfolios. The Specialty Coordinator will oversee the credit analysis and underwriting of a new credit or line renewal help gather documentation and manage all borrowing base certificates facilitate member draw requests oversee the management of the portfolio and its credit quality and handle all closing and servicing functions. The position is responsible to help ensure all BLOCs and CLOCs are actively managed and within lending approvals and credit union policy.
The specialty coordinator will also assist with underwriting large line commercial visa credit cards and ensuring all proper documentation has been provided and sent to boarding.

To be effective an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully:

  • Underwrites and structures traditional business lines of credit (typically $and below) secured by (among other collateral) accounts receivable inventory or real estate; prepares credit presentations documenting credit analyses and recommendation for credit decision to approving authority.
  • Underwrites and structures commercial visa credit card requests (typically $250000 and below) understanding the business monthly spend and balancing that with the credit unions risk tolerance to unsecured lines of credit.
  • Prepares timely concise and accurate credit recommendations with supervision. Includes: (1) quantitative components within the underwriting narrative; (2) accurate use of risk rating scoring matrix both quantitative and qualitative rating elements to ensure loans are properly risk-rated; and (3) accurate identification and mitigation of risk including all policy exceptions procedures and compliance regulations.
  • Has a general understanding of borrowing bases C&I valuation methods and cash flow models.
  • Understands and demonstrates good written communication relating to credit memos addendums memorandums and all forms of written communication.
  • Analyzes repayment ability including business and personal cash flow.
  • As applicable performs financial ratio analysis comparative to industry standards.
  • Performs financial stress testing analysis.
  • Reviews and interprets personal and business credit reports.
  • Makes recommendation regarding approval or denial of a loan request.
  • Prepares commitment letters.
  • Reviews professional CRE or C&I appraisal and evaluation reports.
  • Reviews professional environmental reports and assesses environmental risk.
  • Attends loan committee as directed.
  • Reviews loan closing requirements and prepares loan documentation.
  • May analyze commercial leases agreements and rent rolls.
  • Is able to manage about 3-4 new or renewal loan files at a given time. Monitors loan borrowing bases on a defined schedule and communicates changes to loan limits effectively and promptly.
  • Collects delinquent accounts.
  • Conducts collateral inspections as necessary.
  • May assist the commercial construction coordinators with some of their duties.
  • Works together with all teams to accomplish monthly quarterly and annual goals.
  • Provides excellent member service over the phone email and in person.
  • Attends assigned training sessions and stays current on new procedures and policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Ensures all regulatory compliance is satisfied with each loan.

Experience

Minimum of two years Commercial and Industrial (C&I) or other commercial lending underwriting experience required (five years lending/underwriting experience preferred).

Education

Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in business finance economics or related field. Education will be verified. Five years in a progressive financial setting may be substituted for a relevant degree.

Computer/Office Equipment Skills

  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel
  • Some experience with analytical and reporting software preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with core systems and a loan origination system is preferred

Language Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas methodology results and recommendations verbally in writing and through insightful reports and graphic illustrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to present information in a manner appropriate for key stakeholders and all levels of the organization.
  • Strong writing and grammatical skills relating to preparing credit memos addendums memorandums and all forms of written communication.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain in-depth understanding and knowledge of financial statement principals and analysis (income statements balance sheets and cash flow analysis).
  • Knowledge of rules requirements and regulations from governing bodies (NCUA CFPB OCC et al) with respect to commercial and business lending.
  • Self-starter with strong organizing and time management skills and the ability to work productively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and timelines
  • Adaptive to change responds positively to altered circumstances or conditions
  • Possess a desire and willingness to learn and continually update knowledge base on financial concepts strategies systems etc.
  • Take initiative to be a problem solver and provide suggestions to improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Data analytics and data validation skills and proficiency in business data analysis (MS Excel etc.)
  • Unquestioned personal and professional integrity
