SUMMARY
The Quality Systems Technician plays a key role in supporting the implementation maintenance and continuous improvement of the sites Quality Management System (QMS). This position ensures compliance with customer industry and regulatory requirements working collaboratively across departments and operational sites to align quality practices and drive standardization.
A key responsibility of this role is supporting training and compliance related to IPC standards particularly IPC-A-610 which governs the acceptability of electronic assemblies. This includes facilitating site-wide IPC training sessions maintaining up-to-date certifications and serving as a subject matter expert on workmanship criteria.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
- Serve as the site lead for compliance activities related to:
- Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Customer complaints and product returns
- Internal and external audits
- Nonconforming materials
- Document control and training including IPC-A-610 training and certification tracking for operators and inspectors
- Act as the site administrator for QMS documentation and electronic systems ensuring traceability controlled access and version accuracy.
- Develop and maintain training materials aligned with IPC-A-610 standards; coordinate initial refresher and remedial training sessions as needed.
- Provide compliance guidance and quality training to associates including hands-on IPC workmanship coaching on the production floor.
- Support the ongoing improvement and maintenance of the sites Quality System in alignment with AS9100 ISO 9001 and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead or assist in internal audits and support third-party or customer audits.
- Facilitate and track the timely resolution of quality issues including preventive action planning and root cause analysis.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives to enhance product and process quality.
- Engage in team meetings and cross-functional workgroups with a positive proactive approach.
- Maintain a safe clean and compliant work environment in accordance with regulatory and customer standards.
- On-site attendance is an essential function of this position.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
- 13 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Compliance within a regulated industry (aerospace defense or electronics manufacturing).
- Hands-on experience with IPC-A-610 application and training is highly preferred.
Other Requirements
- IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainer (CIT) status preferred or must be able to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver IPC training to operators and inspectors; familiarity with revision changes and certification cycles.
- Working knowledge of electronic components PCB assembly processes and rework/repair best practices per IPC standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with electronic QMS platforms is a plus.
- Internal auditing experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Language & Communication Skills
- Ability to develop and deliver training content interpret complex standards and document compliance findings clearly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to coach and influence across departments and levels.
Mathematical & Analytical Skills
- Ability to apply math concepts in real-world quality metrics yield analysis and reporting.
- Skilled in using data to support process improvements and corrective actions.
Certifications & Licenses
- IPC-A-610 CIT certification strongly preferred.
- AS9100 Internal Auditor certification preferred.
- Must be able to obtain both within 90 days of hire if not currently held.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly required to sit stand walk talk and hear; use of hands for data entry and handling small components.
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
- Work is performed in both office and production floor environments.
- Moderate noise levels; PPE required in designated areas.
