What You Will Contribute:
This position is responsible for supporting the Strategic and Tactical initiatives within Badger Meter to support changing business needs.
This role will assist the Strategic Sourcing Manager with managing vendor relationships new product development project implementation and process efficiencies. It will also assist in implementing sourcing strategies finding new suppliers as well as evaluating current suppliers.
This role will have direct buying responsibilities of a commodity(s) as the procurement department requires. This person will work with the appropriate site Procurement Manager(s) to ensure tactical buying needs are met.
The work performed in this role will support all Safety Quality On-time Delivery Cost and Continuous improvement activities to achieve Badger Meters corporate goals.
Job Responsibilities:
As directed to support the Strategic Sourcing Manager.
- Drive proactive involvement in all functional activities related to sourcing. This may include attending project meetings and working with appropriate individuals to understand new part requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering Project Management Operations and Quality to ensure the optimal source is selected and capable to support Badger Meter.
- Review and evaluate supply base by commodity to identify optimal sources for Badger Meter while consolidating to align with strong supply partners.
- Evaluates and analyzes supplier capabilities to determine best overall value recommends suppliers for development of new or improvements to existing products to the Project Teams.
- Perform on-site supplier evaluation visits to assist in the recommendation process
For commodities or work assigned by the site Procurement Manager(s)
- Analyzes and schedules material purchases utilizing Badger Meters ERP system and tools.
- Set planning parameters and issue POs to support production requirements.
- This includes optimizing the process to maintain short lead-times low inventory yet supplying required materials in a timely manner.
- Position requires the understanding of production and inventory control and forecasting procedures.
- Supports Procurement Department in necessary metric reporting or any other required procedure in the department.
- This may include supplier performance reports supplier risk analysis reports supplier capacity reviews supplier quality certification status on-time delivery reporting ppm analysis etc.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of experience
- Bachelor degree in the area of supply chain business or a related field preferred
- Advanced Computer skills in MS Word Excel Outlook Powerpoint ERP
- Excellent negotiation skills problem solving written and verbal skills
- Basic ability to read blue prints
- Ability to travel 20% of the time
